Privacy Policy

FormatFlow Translate for Adobe InDesign · Last updated: 30 June 2026

Data controller: [FILL IN: legal entity / sole trader name and country], contactable at matt@bear-cg.com. Payments are processed by our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy, who is a separate controller of your payment data under their own privacy policy.

The short version: we never see your documents. Text is sent directly from your computer to the AI provider you configure, using your API key. We operate no server in that path. The only data that ever reaches us is your license key during validation, and your email when you buy a subscription or contact support.

1. Document content

When you run a translation, the plugin sends the text of your document directly from your machine to the AI provider you selected (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or a local Ollama instance). We do not receive, store, log, or proxy any document content. If you use Ollama, no document content leaves your computer at all.

Your use of an AI provider is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy. We encourage you to review them: OpenAI · Anthropic · Google.

2. API keys

Your AI provider API keys are stored locally on your machine using Adobe InDesign's secure storage (falling back to local plugin storage only if secure storage is unavailable, with an in-app warning). Keys are sent only to the corresponding provider to authenticate your own requests. They are never sent to us and never logged.

3. License data

To validate your subscription, the plugin sends your license key (and an instance name identifying the product) to our merchant-of-record's license API. No document content, file names, or personal data accompany that request. Purchases are processed by our merchant of record, who handles your payment details and shares with us only what is needed to provision your license (such as your email address).

4. Settings

Plugin preferences (selected languages, theme, quality options) are stored locally on your machine and never transmitted.

5. Analytics & tracking

The plugin contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or tracking of any kind.

6. Support

If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it solely to help you and do not share it with third parties.

7. Your rights

You may request access to or deletion of any personal data we hold (practically: your purchase email and support correspondence) by contacting matt@bear-cg.com. EU/EEA customers have the rights provided by the GDPR.

8. Changes

We will update this page if our practices change, and note the date above. Material changes will be announced in the plugin's release notes.
